How these estimates are calculated
Place, currency and tax. Prices are for Canada, in CAD (C$). They exclude GST, HST and any provincial tax. Which of them applies, and at what rate, depends on the province and, for provincial tax, on the kind of service. The range is a national average. When you pick your province, the calculator scales the labour share of the range by a local index from 0.85 to 1.24. The calculator does not quote below its minimum price, C$130 at the national average.
Where the range comes from. The market range for this job comes from prices published for Canada by marketplaces where customers hire pros. We name these sources by type, not by company. We check the hourly rates against Job Bank wage data, and for lawn care the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association wage survey. A trade's rate should sit well above what its workers earn, because it also pays for overhead, travel and insurance.
When we checked. We last checked these rates against their sources on September 30, 2026.
Market price and your price. "What pros charge" is the market range for the job you describe. Your own cost figures do not change it. The table under it, "Your costs at this price", uses your figures: time on the job, labour cost, materials, equipment, travel, fees and overhead. Profit is the market price minus those costs.
Pricing a clean in Canada is guesswork until you know two numbers: what other cleaners in your province charge for
this house, and what the job actually costs you. The calculator above starts from published Canadian rates and then
shows what you keep at that price.
How the calculator works
- Market band. The cleaning type and square footage pick a Canadian per-square-foot rate band in CAD.
- Your job inside the band. Add-ons and a bathroom-heavy layout push the quote up; an easy layout keeps it low.
Recurring visits get the discount Canadian cleaners normally give.
- Your province. Rates are adjusted by a provincial labour-cost index built from Job Bank wages, so Ontario and
Manitoba don’t see the same number.
- Your economics. Open “Your costs and margin” to see hours, costs and what the market price leaves you.
Typical house cleaning prices in Canada, 2026
| Home | Standard clean | Deep clean | Move-out clean |
|---|
| 1-bed apartment (~800 sq ft) | C$130–C$145 | C$130–C$170 | C$150–C$205 |
| 2-bed home (~1,200 sq ft) | C$150–C$220 | C$195–C$260 | C$235–C$315 |
| 3-bed home (~1,800 sq ft) | C$215–C$325 | C$285–C$385 | C$345–C$465 |
| 4-bed home (~2,500 sq ft) | C$300–C$450 | C$400–C$535 | C$480–C$645 |
Prices are before GST or HST, at the national average. Pick your province in the calculator to scale the labour share
of the range.
Worked example
A biweekly deep clean of a 4-bed, 3-bath, 2,400 sq ft home in Ontario with inside-oven and interior-window add-ons:
the deep-clean band for this size is about C$428–668, the add-ons and the bathroom count centre the quote high in it,
and the biweekly discount and the Ontario index bring it to about C$440 before HST — biweekly visits take less time
than a one-off, so the hours fall with the price. At C$25 an hour in labour cost your costs run about C$273, so the
market price leaves you around C$167 per visit.
Quoting cleanings in Canada
- Price the first visit as a deep clean. A new client’s home is never in maintenance condition; quote the first
visit separately and set the recurring price after it.
- Say whether tax is included. Residential clients assume the number you say is the number they pay — put
“plus HST” in writing or quote tax-in and mean it.
- Charge for travel outside your zone. Canadian service areas are spread out; a 40-minute drive is a real cost,
not a rounding error.

Frequently asked questions
How much should I charge for house cleaning in Canada?
Solo cleaners across Canada bill C$35–65 an hour in 2026, and a standard clean of a three-bedroom home usually lands between C$215 and C$325 depending on the size and the condition of the house.
Should I quote hourly or per visit?
Quote a flat price per visit and build it from your hourly cost. Clients want one predictable number, and flat pricing rewards you for getting faster instead of punishing you for it.
Do I charge GST or HST on cleaning?
Cleaning services carry GST or HST across Canada. Once you pass the C$30,000 small-supplier threshold you must register and charge it at the rate of the province where you clean: 5% GST in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the territories, 13% HST in Ontario, 14% in Nova Scotia, 15% in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island, and GST plus 9.975% QST in Quebec. Residential cleaning carries no PST in British Columbia or Saskatchewan and no RST in Manitoba. The calculator shows the price before tax.
How much cheaper should recurring cleans be?
Weekly and biweekly homes stay cleaner and take less time, so a 10–20% discount off your one-off price is normal in Canada. The calculator applies it automatically when you pick a frequency.
What do deep and move-out cleans cost?
Both run well above a standard visit: C$285–385 for a deep clean and C$345–465 for a move-out clean of an average three-bedroom home.
