Canadian duct pricing has something the other markets do not: a vent-count ladder published by a licensed contractor rather than by a marketplace. That is what the hours in this calculator are built on, and it is why the Canadian numbers here are the firmest of the four markets that have this product at all.
How the calculator works
- Count every vent. Supply registers and return grilles both.
- Each extra system is a second setup, at C$200–C$400 and close to an hour. No Canadian source prices a second system, so that range is an American figure; read it as an estimate.
- Add-ons are their own lines. Dryer vent, furnace, blower, coil.
- Your province. Prices are adjusted by a provincial labour-cost index, with a C$250 minimum under it.
- Your economics. “Your costs and margin” works in crew hours, because the rates in this trade are crew rates.
Typical Canadian duct cleaning prices in 2026
| Item | Price | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Vent or return, labour included | C$28–C$45 | each |
| Additional HVAC system | C$200–C$400 (American figure) | each |
| Dryer vent | C$150–C$200 | job |
| Furnace, blower or coil | C$120–C$300 | unit |
| Antimicrobial fogging | C$100–C$250 | system |
| Whole house, national average | C$500 (C$375–C$650) | job |
Minimum charge C$250. All figures exclude GST/HST.
The contractor’s own ladder
| Home | Square feet | Vents | Price | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Condo or small home | 600–1,000 | 6–10 | C$250–C$350 | 2.5–3.5 |
| Bungalow | 1,000–1,500 | 10–15 | C$350–C$450 | — |
| Two storey | 1,500–2,500 | 15–22 | C$400–C$550 | 4–5 |
| Large home | 2,500–4,000+ | 22–35+ | C$550–C$800+ | — |
Check it two ways. A base of C$250 plus twelve vents at C$12 marginal is C$394; twelve vents at C$28–C$45 all-in is C$336–C$540. Both land inside the bungalow’s C$350–C$450, and they diverge at the edges — which is what the minimum charge exists to handle.
Where the Canadian numbers are thin, said plainly
Two sources, and one owns a lot of the market. The per-vent rates and the national average come from a marketplace owned by a lead-generation group; the ladder and the condo prices come from one licensed Ontario contractor. They agree in the middle.
The dryer vent disagrees with itself across sources — C$150–C$200 against C$75–C$150, a factor of two. The higher figure is used and the disagreement is recorded.
No Canadian source prices a second system. The C$200–C$400 is the American figure, carried over without scaling. The Ontario contractor prices a whole home with two furnaces at C$600–C$800, which suggests a second system costs less here. For that reason these rates carry no check date.
Tax treatment is our reading. Neither source mentions it.
Worked example
A two-storey house with 22 vents, two systems, two appliance units, a dryer vent and a long-overdue system. The typical quote lands at C$2,160 (range C$1,760–C$2,560) for about 11.7 crew hours, against a cost near C$906. That leaves C$1,254, a 58% margin before GST/HST. This is the top of the range: the Ontario contractor’s own ladder puts 22 vents and up at C$550–C$800 for a single system, and everything above that here comes from the second system, the appliances and the neglect. The “Fill with sample data” button loads this job.
What this calculator does not price
Commercial work, billed by the hour at C$50–C$75. Mould treatment, priced at C$1–C$2 per square foot on top of the base. Inspection, because five sources across the markets give five incompatible levels. Quote those from your own records.
